I hereby take you, Conflict of Interest, to be my bride.

smithclementsI like to see young love bloom, but when it comes to my Pennsylvania’s physical and environmental health, I have to do a call out on this one.

See if you can follow this soap opera: Mark Smith is a Democratic candidate for Lt. Governor and is currently a Bradford County Commissioner. The two Bradford County Republican Commissioners are in battle with Chesapeake Energy over not paying the promised royalties to their lease holders. Mark Smith was conveniently absent (says he wasn’t told about it) during a meeting the Republican Commissioners held to strategize about what to do about Chesapeake. http://wnep.com/2013/05/28/commissioners-try-to-clear-up-gas-lease-concerns/

The Republican Commissioners along with Republican State Rep. Tina Pickett aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed when it comes to the hazards of gas drilling, but what kind of crazy Gasland do we live in where the Republicans are fighting the gas industry and the Democrat is marrying the Chesapeake Energy spokeswoman this weekend, June 22nd, in the midst of this controversy?http://www.keystonepolitics.com/2013/02/democrats-cant-trust-lt-gov-candidate-mark-smith-on-marcellus-shale/

On his Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mark-Smith-for-PA/34807136737, Mark Smith touts having a fundraiser at the house of two video producers who just happened to do work for Chesaeake and are the ones that produced a commercial featuring his bride to be for Chesapeake Energy. http://www.pnllocations.com/PNLLOCATIONS/chesapeake_Energy_Jane_Clements_PA.html

Sounds like there are a lot of people in bed with each other, but nobody’s married…yet.
